Phase 6 declaration by WHO with regards to Influenza A(h1n1)

Just this morning the Department of Health of the Philippines announced that the World Health Organization had declared that Influenza A(h1n1) virus spread had reached the highest rank in the outbreak scheme of WHO.

With this announcement, DOH secretary told the media that it is now the responsibility of the government of the Philippines what rules and regulation to implement to help the cut down of the spread. Though the secretary also said that no community outbreak has been reported, I think prevention is still better.

Closing of schools might happen in Universities or schools if an outbreak is reported in that certain campus, so as to prevent more cases.

Arnel Pineda: a Filipino Icon

Arnel Pineda is the new Filipino lead vocalist of the band Journey.

The story of this man is an inspiring one.

Running away from home so that his father can support his other siblings, is a  heroic act that he did. He suffered a lot in the following years he did spend on the street.

And one thing that ease this pain is his passion for music. Creating a small band, with his friends, Arnel took the first step of his career. One time, he sang a song of the Journey, and a friend of his ask his permission that the video taken from that performance be post on

After a while, the band took notice of the similarities in his voice and the old Journey vocalist. When they contact Arnel and ask him to be part of their band, the young Filipino did not believe them, thinking it was only a prank.

After which, he was invited to the U.S. to formally meet the members of the band, he was not that sure of it.

But after meeting them, he can’t believe his luck.

And so, the training start and we can now see how great he is. He had proven himself to be one of the most respected Filipino.

And for me, Arnel is a Filipino Icon.

The Philippine’s topped the A(h1n1) virus count in SouthEast Asia

Sadly, the Philippines is now the record holder for the highest count of victims of A(h1n1) virus. Just this morning, the total cases of swine flu has  reached the last two digit—99. This is a little bit alarming for the all Filipinos, because panicking seems to be essential at this point.

A case of death that is not yet confirmed if due to swine flu, is reported from a school in the Philippines. With due to this, parents from that school were terribly panicking and were afraid if their children had contact with that child.

DOH had declared that the people should not panick. For the disease is not yet a major pandemic, they also said that Dengue, a disease brought by mosquito bite, seems to be more fatal than swine flu. Death from Dengue is much higher than in Swine flu and Dengue has no definite cure.

Influenza A(h1n1) up to 54 cases

This afternoon, the news had reported that from 49 the cases jumps to 54. And sadly, 2 schools in Manila suspended their classes due to the fact that a student their had been a carrier. The contact-tracing were done immediately. But I guess, self-quarantine of the students from those schools would help to prevent a community outbreak.

DOH had said that the public must not panic because the strand of the Influenza A(h1n1) is a mild one. That’s why those patients were treated immediately. And their recovery is faster than to other victims from other country.

The constitutional assembly

What is the problem of the Constitutional assembly that the Congressmen where pushing through?

First, they want to amend the 1987 Constitution by a joint-assembly with the 24 senators and a triple or more Congressmen. What would happen to the votes of the Senators? If they don’t even make the half of the Congressmen? This means that those anti-Gloria Senators would have no say to the Charter Change that the Congress were pushing through for a long time.

Second, the election is getting closer. The first time that CHA-cha was pushed, we all feared that the 2010 election would vanish. But then, it all appears that there would still be an election but, people would only vote for the Parliament’s assembly. Is this another term for her?

I guess, the rallies that will happen this Wednesday is worth it. I hope those persons who passed the House Representative1109 would heard the pleas of those persons on the street.

I guess a charter change would be acceptabe after the 2010 election. So as everyone is given the chance to pracrice the freedom that was given to us.

Philippine A(h1n1) case jumps to 46

As I have written yesterday, there were 39 new influenza a(h1n1) cases in the Philippines. From todays’ news the confirmed carrier of the disease jumps to 46. This includes students from De La Salle University-Taft in Manila, bringing the total La Salle students total to 7. And another from the Far Eastern University.

Luckily, the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education had agreed to formally open Academic year 09-10 on June 15, 2009, a week later than scheduled.

The Secretary of the Department of Health had said, that tracing the people that the carriers had contact is a little bit difficult. but, he also said that the cases of swine flu in the Philippines is miraculously mild. Unlike to other big countries where the disease is also rampant.

Tracing the contacted person by those carriers of the disease is not that effective right now, Health Secretary Duque said that it is better to medicate then all the patients that would rise as influenza a(h1n1) victim.

The World Health Organization confirmed that the disease had been spread to 73 countries, with 25,288 infected persons, and the saddest part is that 139 persons had died due to this virus.

I hope that this virus can now be busted. Because we know that with today’s economic problem, getting medication is a lot more difficult to do.

Hope to hear good news after a few days.

39 Cases of A(H1N1) virus in the Philippines

Just this morning, the Health Secretary of the Philippines confirmed that there were 6 new cases of influenza A virus in the Philippines, reaching the swine flu cases to 39 people.

The virus that came from Mexico, which then spread to more than 40 countries, and lately the flu had entered the Philippines. This was worsened by the opening of the School year 2009-2010. Students from abroad are going home, and virus-carrier might be one of them.

The Department of Health of the Philippines advised those students to self-quarantine themselves for 10 days to assure that they don’t have the disease by the time they go to school.Spread of the virus is faster in the School premises due to the fact that student interact with each other.

The Department of Education is ready for an outbreak. They would suspend classes if ever a spread would be reported.

I hope the disease won’t spread out.

I know that the government will help us in this.

Like every Filipino in this country, I am so proud of the People’s Champ achievement. I mean, Mr. Manny Pacquiao had bagged another feather to the cap of each filipino.

And it have been amazing how he had knock out Mr. Hatton. The game was so good. And if you have been there at our house, the excitement was tremendous. It makes everyone of us shout and giggle for joy.

As the first slip of Mr.Hatton happened, everyone were shouting. You can feel the intensity in our house.

Well, I guess Pacman’s victory is God’s plan in his life.

I hope he still wins in his coming games.

5th Del Monte Football Cup

Before coming back to Mati, I went to Camp Phillips, a part of the huge plantation of Del Monte, to take part in their annual activity known as the Del Monte Football Cup. The place was terrific, I mean, the place was cool. It was so awesome going their.

The tournament had been helpful in promoting football to a lot of people. And according to some speakers, they want soccer to be popular here in the Philippines, especially in Mindanao, and its first stop would be Bukidnon.

Well, I’m so proud I did play their.

That was also the first time I ate Strawberry.
